Sunshine vs Apollo vs Vibepollo vs PunktfunkSwitch game streaming engines in one tap, with a virtual monitor and USB passthrough for each, and benchmark them on your network

The USBridge Agent bundles Sunshine, Apollo, Vibepollo, Punktfunk and the USBridge protocol. Switch engines in one tap, give every one of them a virtual monitor and USB passthrough for any device and gamepad, connect with one client, and let the built-in benchmark show which one is smoothest on your hardware.

Five engines in one agent

The USBridge Agent bundles the open-source game streaming hosts and the USBridge protocol. Pick one in the Streamer menu; the others stay installed.

Sunshine

The open-source GameStream host from LizardByte. Works with any GPU and any Moonlight client.

Apollo

A Sunshine fork with a built-in virtual display, so the stream matches the resolution of the client device.

Vibepollo

An Apollo fork focused on display stability: virtual displays that do not get stuck, and Windows Graphics Capture.

Punktfunk

A newer open-source streaming engine with its own capture and encode pipeline.

USBridge Streamer

Native Rust protocol with the PyroWave low-latency codec. Free: adaptive Wi-Fi streaming, 4:4:4 color, gamepads and USB passthrough. Pro: pen pressure. PyroWave, Free and Pro.

Switch engines in one tap

No reinstall

Change the engine from the Streamer menu of the agent. No separate installers, services or ports to juggle.

Any client, any engine

Everything is cross-compatible: the USBridge client and the stock Moonlight client both connect to every engine.

Same machine, same settings

Tailscale P2P and the firewall are set up once by the agent, whatever engine runs.

A virtual monitor for every engine

Stock Sunshine streams a real screen, so a headless PC needs a dummy HDMI plug. The USBridge Agent adds its own virtual display driver and gives a virtual monitor to every engine, Sunshine included.

Sunshine virtual monitor

Stream a headless PC or a closed laptop with Sunshine, no dummy plug.

Client resolution

The virtual monitor follows the resolution and refresh rate of the client: a phone, a tablet, a 4K TV.

Every fork

The same virtual display works with Apollo, Vibepollo, Punktfunk and the USBridge protocol.

Your real screens stay put

Stream to a virtual monitor while the physical displays keep their layout.

Any USB device and gamepad on every engine

USB passthrough in the USBridge Agent sits next to the streaming engine, not inside it, so it works whichever engine runs. The USBridge client passes any USB device; the stock Moonlight client sends mouse, keyboard and gamepads.

Gamepads

Xbox, DualShock, DualSense, Switch Pro, 8BitDo and other SDL controllers, with Sunshine, Apollo, Vibepollo or Punktfunk, from the USBridge client or Moonlight.

Any USB device

From the USBridge client: MIDI keyboards, microphones and audio interfaces, Wacom tablets, YubiKeys, drives: the remote PC sees the real device.

Original drivers

The device shows up on the host as itself, so its own driver and software work.

USB passthrough →

Benchmark them on your own network

Which engine is fastest depends on the GPU, the driver and the network. The USBridge client measures it instead of guessing.

Engines in sequence

The client runs the same test on each engine from its menu.

Your resolution

1080p, 1440p or 4K at the frame rate you actually play or work at.

Real telemetry

Startup latency, 1% low FPS, frame time at p50, p95 and p99, stalls and jitter.

Your link

Wi-Fi, mesh or cellular: the winner is the engine that is smooth on that network.

Frequently asked questions

Apollo vs Sunshine: which is better?

Apollo is a Sunshine fork that adds a built-in virtual display, so the stream matches the client resolution. Which one is faster depends on the GPU, the driver and the network. The USBridge Agent runs both, and the USBridge client benchmarks them on your machine.

Vibepollo vs Apollo: what is the difference?

Vibepollo is a fork of Apollo focused on display stability: it keeps virtual displays from getting stuck and captures with Windows Graphics Capture. The USBridge Agent lets you switch between the two in one tap.

Does Sunshine support a virtual monitor?

Stock Sunshine streams an existing screen, so a headless PC needs a dummy HDMI plug. With the USBridge Agent, Sunshine gets a virtual monitor at the client resolution, and so do Apollo, Vibepollo, Punktfunk and the USBridge protocol.

Can I use USB devices and gamepads with Sunshine?

Yes. The USBridge Agent passes any USB device through, gamepads included, whichever engine runs: Sunshine, Apollo, Vibepollo, Punktfunk or USBridge. From the USBridge client any USB device works and the remote PC sees it with its own driver; the stock Moonlight client sends mouse, keyboard and gamepads.

Does Sunshine or Moonlight support PyroWave?

Stock Sunshine and Moonlight do not. The USBridge Agent adds PyroWave through its USBridge streamer engine and the USBridge client decodes it, on the same Moonlight protocol, with free 4:4:4 color and HDR.

What is Punktfunk?

Punktfunk is an open-source game streaming engine with its own capture and encode pipeline. It is built into the USBridge Agent next to Sunshine, Apollo and Vibepollo.

Can I switch between Sunshine, Apollo, Vibepollo and Punktfunk without reinstalling?

Yes. All of them ship inside the USBridge Agent. Pick one in the Streamer menu; there is nothing to uninstall or reconfigure.

How do I compare streaming engines?

Run the session benchmark from the USBridge client menu. It tests each engine at your resolution and frame rate and reports startup latency, 1% low FPS, frame time percentiles, stalls and jitter.
